50 Trees will Reforest Three Clifton Parks

We are partnering with the City of Clifton to plant fifty trees in three parks through TD Bank’s Green Streets grant program. The Arbor Day Foundation announced that Clifton received a $20,000 grant to plant the trees this spring. Clifton was one of ten cities nationwide to receive the funding.

The trees will be planted during Earth Week, with TD Bank volunteers and local students planting eleven trees on April 24th.

The City of Clifton will be working with the New Jersey Tree Foundation, a certified Arborist, the City’s DPW shade Tree Supervisor, and the Clifton Beautification Committee to plant the trees in three parks in areas in need of urban reforestation. The goal is to increase the tree canopy in these open spaces with a diversity of trees for livability and sustainability; thereby rebuilding the city’s ecosystem. Sustainability will be achieved when the biodiversity of the city’s ecosystems are restored and native habitats and wildlife begin to flourish providing residents and tourists opportunities to enjoy nature locally.

“TD Bank is committed to enhancing urban tree canopies and green space as part of our vision to support the transition to a low-carbon economy and nurture sustainability in the communities we serve,” said Joseph Doolan, TD Bank’s Head of Environmental Affairs. “Through our longstanding partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, we are supporting innovative community programs in cities including the City of Clifton that do more than beautify underserved urban neighborhoods – trees improve air quality, capture carbon emissions, and enhance the quality of life.”
