Larry is a recent graduate of our Green Streets Program. Green Streets provides men under parole supervision with temporary jobs planting and maintaining trees, helping them increase their job skills and earn an income while they get back on their feet.

Trees Uniting Neighbors
The residents of Pomona Avenue in Newark were tired of seeing the long, empty, grass medians on their street filled with litter and causing an eyesore. Ready to take action, they reactivated the Pomona Avenue Block Association and adopted the grass medians from the City of Newark. Their first project was to plant trees there!

Even better is when we can install enhanced tree pits, shown above, which are almost like mini habitats with multiple trees and shrubs! In fall 2020 the NJ Tree Foundation, partners, and volunteers planted 17 trees in and around the 4th & Washington Park in Camden City.

As a result of the current circumstances regarding COVID-19, in an effort to prevent the spread of the virus under advisement from the New Jersey State Government and CDC, the NJ Tree Foundation is currently making plans to reschedule tree planting events set to occur in early April. Some of these events may happen later in the spring, some could be pushed to the fall.
