Planting Trees for a Living

Larry is a recent graduate of our Green Streets Program. Green Streets provides men under parole supervision with temporary jobs planting and maintaining trees, helping them increase their job skills and earn an income while they get back on their feet.

Larry started working with us in the spring of 2019 and stayed through the fall of 2019 until he was hired by a moving company in the winter of 2020. He was laid off from that job due to Covid but fortunately we were able to hire him again through Green Streets. Larry is an extremely hard worker and one of the best we have had on the Green Streets Crew.

Larry told us, “When I first started working here, I saw it as just a job. Now I realize it’s really more than that. I am actually helping with saving the environment and making it look beautiful at the same time. I also enjoy how other families come join us when we have volunteer days, as we all work side by side to get the job done and appreciate nature. I would like to thank the NJ Tree Foundation for showing me a different life.”

Your donations and support make it possible for men like Larry to learn how to plant trees and experience a different kind of job. Thank you for your support during this giving season and all year long. Here are a few ways you can contribute to improving New Jersey with more trees and providing opportunities for men like Larry:

Donate what you can, if you can. Any amount helps.

-Consider making a donation in honor of someone instead of giving them a physical gift this year.

-If you are not able to donate, share. Share a a story about your experience with the NJ Tree Foundation or why you support our cause. You can share with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram or leave your story in a review on GreatNonprofits or Google.

We thank you for your support.
