Fall Webworm

What is this?
Nests containing hundreds of fall webworm larvae and caterpillars appear on the ends of branches.

How do I fix it?
Remove nest by cutting out or removing nest with a stick. This is best done in early morning when caterpillars are present. Dispose of in sealed plastic bag – do not compost!

Can it be prevented in the future?
Unfortunately, fall webworm cannot be prevented. Larvae begin emerging and weaving nests in late summer/early fall, so keep an eye out and remove nests as soon as you see them.
