Bagworm

What is this?
Bag-like cocoons attach to branches, each containing hundreds of bagworm eggs.

How do I fix it?
Remove bags by hand and discard in sealed plastic bags – do not compost!

Can it be prevented in the future?
Unfortunately these can’t be prevented, but keep an eye out for cocoons and defoliation, especially in late spring when caterpillars begin emerging and feeding. Removing the  cocoons as soon as possible is the best way to manage infestations.
