Do you have a shovel-ready tree planting project? The New Jersey Tree Foundation wants to help it come to fruition! Shovel-ready projects are tree planting projects where tree locations and numbers have already been decided on and the only thing missing is funding. The NJ Tree Foundation will work with applicants to find and apply for grants to fund the project and, if awarded, will partner with you to organize and conduct the planting with volunteers.
Projects should have a minimum of 20 trees, and will ideally already have approval by the property owners and/or municipality. Maintenance plans should be in place to care for the trees for at least two years following planting. These projects should be located in public places like parks and schools, as we do not plant on private property. Plantings in the public right-of-way (sidewalk or grass strip between sidewalk and curb) in front of homes and businesses will also be considered as long as property owners want the trees and agree to care for them.
The NJ Tree Foundation is committed to planting the right tree in the right place, and will work with applicants to choose the best species for the locations and ensure the planting itself is completed properly.
